Biography

Wassup people? You’ve reached the official web site of A. Lee Rollerson, the institutive mind behind “From the Tip of My Tongue,” a blog that shares my thoughts in time, the things I think about, hear and question in life. So where did the idea come from?

Here’s the short version. After graduating from high school, oh so long ago, I left my hometown and went to college to study electrical engineering.  After a year of study, I decided to change my major and transfer schools. I moved closer to home and had a double major in computer science and mathematics. A. Lee RollersonAfter one semester of school, I left and went into the military. After serving my sentence time in the US Air Force, I worked for a commercial airline and some other side jobs as well. Needless to say, during the past decade, I have been given the opportunity to travel all over the United States and some. I’ve met people from all walks of life and befriended a few. Like many people do, I share what’s going on in my life with my closest of closest friends. Some of the things that I mentioned would make people say, “You could write a book with these stories.” I’m not certain if I was being told that because they enjoyed how detailed I was or because they didn’t believe it, but it made me think about it. So one night while sitting in the Brass Rail, a bar located in Rapid City, South Dakota, I jokingly said to my best friend that I was going to write a book. As the weeks went by, we continued to joke about the book (which has a title I prefer not to disclose at this time) and the sequel to the book. As months grew, we were talking trilogy.

Writing has always been easy for me (sounding egotistical now). I was a very shy person growing up, but give me a paper and a pencil and I could write for days. Funny, I was never a child that enjoyed English class growing up (who did?) even though I took up to AP English IV in high school and did very well; however, I maintained a journal growing up. I’ve never considered making a career out of writing, but it was a way for me to express the things I wanted to remember or things I couldn’t share with someone at the certain point in my life.

So here I am writing my thoughts, short stories, and excerpts from my book for the world to read. This is not the first time I have posted a blog. I initially started in 2004 and by 2006, I stopped because there were people that felt that I was using my “online journal” as a place to write messages in a bottle and cast out for the world to pick up and read. I allowed people’s critiques and comments to get the best of me. I had some friends that felt I was targeting them indirectly. I want to clear the air now before it happens again. Never will I talk about someone close to me. I have an animated imagination. I can watch an ant crawl along a wall, tell you the story and make you believe that you’re that ant if I want you to. I never want my readers to take my work, dissect it, and then try to put it back together. This is not the Da Vinci Code. There are no secret messages about anyone. My purpose is never set out to offend anyone, I simply want to be able to take you out of the “reality” known to you. In closing, when you read my work, if you can’t say Amen, say ouch.
